Finally, it’s here — the NRW Design BMW B58 Gen 2 Billet Valve Cover.
Today marks the official start of pre-orders for our long-awaited Gen 2 single-piece billet valve cover. This project has taken over a year and a half of development, testing, and refinement to bring to market. From digitally scanning the original OEM cover, to designing our billet single-piece solution, multiple revisions, extensive R&D, and machining numerous test units, every step was focused on delivering the highest-quality replacement for the factory plastic valve cover.
One of the first priorities during development was eliminating the OEM PCV system — a known weak point in BMW valve covers dating back to the S55 platform. As a result, this valve cover is designed to be used with an external catch can system.
Drawing from the development of our S58 valve covers, we incorporated three -12 ORB/AN ports to efficiently evacuate excessive crankcase pressure under high-performance conditions. Each valve cover includes:

Our valve cover is machined from a single block of 6061-T6 aluminum for one primary reason: reliability. A true single-piece design minimizes potential leak points while maintaining maximum structural integrity. We intentionally chose to avoid multi-piece construction, despite the convenience it may offer for cylinder head re-torque procedures. In our testing and experience, the minimal time savings do not outweigh the increased potential for leaks. Additionally, vehicles requiring frequent head re-torquing are typically race-oriented applications that often do not utilize factory cowlings, making this feature unnecessary for most users.
Another key feature of our design is the blocking of the factory intake ports, a feature built into our valve cover. By blocking these ports internally, there is no need for aftermarket plugs when removing the OEM PCV system. This helps prevent oil contamination from entering the intake manifold, reducing the likelihood of excessive valve carbon buildup over time.
We also incorporated machined coil plug dust seals into the design — a detail we have noticed many competing valve covers overlook. Without proper sealing, dust, oil, and debris can accumulate around the spark plug area and potentially enter the cylinder head during maintenance. Although machining these features increases production time and manufacturing cost, we believe attention to detail is what separates a premium product from the rest.
To ensure long-term serviceability, our design utilizes OEM BMW gaskets exclusively — no proprietary seals or custom gaskets required. This allows owners to easily source replacement gaskets anywhere factory BMW parts are available.
This allows users to actively monitor crankcase pressure and implement safety measures in the event of head lift or head gasket failure.
Manufactured in the USA using domestically sourced aluminum, we believe this is the ultimate upgrade solution for the commonly failing OEM B58 valve covers.
